In 1966, Joe Van Horn moved his family from Chicago, Illinois to Plymouth, Wisconsin after purchasing his first store that he named after himself, Joe Van Horn Chevrolet. Like any new business, starting up was difficult but Joe and his family of eight persevered. In 1977, Joe moved his store from the intersection of Factory and Shwartz Street and built a new building where the dealership resides today. A decade later, his son, Chuck Van Horn, purchased the Dodge dealership in 1987 and added the Jeep and Chrysler franchises in 2009. He opened Van Horn Hyundai in Sheboygan in 1999 and built Van Horn Hyundai of Fond Du Lac in 2002. Chuck partnered with Chrysler World Auto of Green Bay WI in 2007 and opened Sheboygan Budget Auto in 2010 which features vehicles under $8,000 and offers sub prime financing to people with less-than-stellar credit. Van Horn remains a family business with Teresa Van Horn as the dealer at Van Horn Chevrolet since 1996 and continues working today with her son Patrick.
